The temporary Flight 93 memorial in
coal country near Somerset, May 2003.
In May, the
Fashion & Style section of the New York Times tackled whether trucker
caps were "in" as a fashion statement. One place where the
question of hat hipness seems particularly irrelevant is the Flight 93
crash site, where hundreds of visitors have left their caps in tribute at
the makeshift memorial since September 2001. Especially plentiful among
them are caps of military units, fire and police departments, and other
government institutions.
